Circus Zambia, and ‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’ at Dynamix 11th and 12th July

We are super excited to be hosting members of Circus Zambia at Dynamix over 2 days in July!

Circus Zambia, in association with Dynamix present…

‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’
7.30pm Wed 11th July

A beautiful piece of circus theatre which tells the story of the ingenious young inventor from Malawi who powered his whole village with a hand-made windmill.

Performed by Circus Zambia on their first ever UK visit. Not to be missed – this is the only public performance on their short 2 day visit.

They will also run a Circus skills workshop before the show, from 5:30-7pm, a chance to try Zambian contemporary and traditional dance, Acrobalance and acrobatics skills.
There will be lip-smacking Afrikan food available on the night provided by Calabash Tree.

The show will be followed by a ‘Circus Jam’ for local circus practitioners to exchange skills with the Circus Zambia crew, and each other.

Circus Zambia are a young, dynamic, and multi-skilled group, who are bringing their own blend of circus skills, theatre, dance and clowning to audiences in the UK. The group, who have used circus as a means to affect change within their community, educate and empower young people, are now attracting international recognition: in particular the director and founder of Circus Zambia, Gift Chansa will receive the Young Leaders’ Award from Queen Elizabeth, whilst here in the UK.

If you run a school or community group…

We would like to offer you an exciting and unique opportunity for your students to participate in the first UK visit of Circus Zambia, and their residency in the North East on the 11th and 12th July 2018, in collaboration with Dynamix Extreme CIC.

This is a chance for your students to learn some new skills, be inspired by engaging with international artists, and watch a beautiful piece of circus theatre which tells the story of the ingenious young inventor from Malawi who powered his whole village with a hand-made windmill.

We propose to you a 60 minute workshop, followed by a 30 minute performance by Circus Zambia followed by a Q&A session, with time allowed for a break for refreshments. This can take place as a morning or afternoon session, at Dynamix Skatepark in Gateshead, or alternatively, the circus can come to you in a suitable space at your school.

This package is £10 per student, (teachers and carers go free), with a minimum booking of 20 students, and is suitable for children aged 8 and over. Pricing can be flexible, so please get in touch if you are interested, to discuss your available budget etc.
